The long-awaited fate of a low-water crossing bridge in northeast Montgomery County may soon be known.
Brandon Beurskins with Montgomery County Public Works says the county will take a look at the bridge in the coming weeks.
The bridge has been closed for much of this year and the detour put in place by the county left area residents with a much longer route to US-169 than many found acceptable. In April this year, more than 25 residents from the area attended a Montgomery County Commission meeting to voice their anger and concern to commissioners about the bridge closure, Those citizens have been waiting for answers since that time. Commissioner Robert Bever says it's the duty of the county government to keep those citizens in the loop.
Montgomery County hopes to have an answer on the issue by the end of the year.
