Synthetic Ice Skating Rink To Open Soon in Fort Scott

The City of Fort Scott has plans to kick off the holiday season with the opening of a unique holiday attraction.

The city plans to unveil a new, synthetic ice skating rink in the Gathering Square Pavilion on December 6th as a part of their Christmas on the Bricks community celebration. The new attraction cost around $50,000 to put in place and is paid for by fundraising and donations through the Fort Scott Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber hopes the new rink will bring visitors to the city for the holiday season and help support downtown business by bolstering economic activity. The skating rink does not use any real ice which means the Chamber plans to use it for several years to come.

The synthetic skating rink will make its debut during the first weekend of December and will available throughout the holiday season.
