There was a major shake-up at last night's Independence Community College Board of Trustees meeting.
Long-time board member Valerie DeFever submitted her resignation from the Board at last night's meeting. After serving on the Board for nearly a decade, DeFever says she leaves knowing the Board and the college are doing well.
DeFever cited personal and family reasons as the motivation for her departure. The Board will now begin the search for an individual to replace DeFever on the Board. They currently plan to review any applications they receive for the open position in hopes of making a decision at their December Board meeting. This would allow the new member to begin their new duties in January.
In other business, the most recent audit of the school's finances came back clean, while President Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo reported that the new HVAC systems in the Fine Arts and Academic buildings have been installed and are up and running. Sadhoo also told the Board that a campus sewer line had collapsed and is set to be repaired during the Thanksgiving break.
