A Wichita man is set to stand trial in December after he allegedly left his 11-month-old baby near a Wichita highway in July.
Vincent Perez faces charges of aggravated battery and aggravated child endangerment after the baby girl was spotted by motorists, alone in a canal between the lanes of I-135 in south Wichita on July 23. Police found the child naked, sunburned, and covered in mud. The child was taken to a hospital for treatment and was also found to be covered in bruises.
Court documents state that Perez had also tried to suffocate the child while at a friend’s house the day before.
The trial is set to begin on December 16.
