A traffic stop near Parsons leads to a police chase and the arrest of the suspect.
The incident began around 11pm last night when a Parsons Police Officer attempted a traffic stop on a white Chevy pick up with no registration. The driver attempted to flee the scene and then to hide from the officer by turning off the truck's lights.
As the suspect fled east out of Parsons, several officers from multiple agencies joined the pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed and deflated the vehicle's tire, but driver continued to flee. Officers attempted to slow the pursuit by boxing in the vehicle, but the suspect hit a Labette County Sheriff's patrol car and continued to flee until veering off the road and into a ditch. Officers were able to remove the suspect from the vehicle and place her under arrest.
39-year-old Marsha Evans of McCune was taken into custody and faces multiple felony charges including Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated Battery on a Law enforcement Officer. She faces a total of 17 charges in the case.
