Montgomery County Warns Drivers About Moving Barricades Near Unsafe Bridge

The Montgomery County Public Works Department is warning drivers not to move barricades that block an unsafe bridge.

The bridge in question is on a county road between Roads 4900 and 5100 in the northeast part of the county. The low water bridge was closed earlier this year because it was found to be structurally unsafe.

Residents in the area voiced concerns at the time that the detour put in place by the county was too long and posed a hardship to the citizens who lived in the area. The county was reluctant to say the bridge would be repaired due to the substantial cost involved. Commissioners did say they would take a closer look at the foundation of the bridge to see if it could be saved. Brandon Beurskins with Public Works says the county has not yet been able to make a determination on the future of the bridge, so, for now it must remain closed.

Montgomery County Commissioner Larry McManus says he has received complaints about residents in the are being ticketed for moving barricades that block access to the bridge.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will be ticketing anyone who is caught moving barricades.
