FARM Act Could Help Crop Producers

A new bill has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives called the Farm Assistance and Revenue Mitigation Act or the FARM Act.

This bill would provide emergency relief to crop growers as a result of low prices in 2024. K-State and Washburn Law Professor Roger McEowen says farmers' payments would be based on what they planted for the year.  McEowen says there would be about $20 billion allocated to the FARM Act.

McEowen says there are payment limitations on the max amount of money that a producer can receive. He says this depends on if it is an individual, an LLC or a general partnership. An LLC could receive up to $125,000 and a individual whether in a general partnership or not could receive up to $175,000.
