Father, Son Drown in Flood Waters Near Haskell,OK

A father and son in Oklahoma are both dead after trying to rescue a female relative from flood waters near Haskell late last week.

Authorities say 54-year-old Lloyd Eubanks and 27-year-old William Eubanks were both swept away by floodwaters after trying to save a family member from swift water over a low water crossing. The daughter/sister of the the victims went into the water first and her brother William tried to save her. Their father Lloyd then went into the water after both of his children. The two men managed to get the woman to a log in the water and she was able to escape. She then called 9-1-1, but her brother and father had been swept into the waters of Coal Creek. Their bodies would be recovered later downstream.

Muskogee County Emergency Management Officials remind people not to cross flood waters as it takes only 6 inches of water to sweep a person off their feet.
