New guardrails are coming to U.S. 166 east of Niotaze.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, a guardrail replacement project is expected to start on Wednesday on 166 about three miles east of Niotaze between the Montgomery and Chautuaqua County line continuing east to U.S. 75.
Temporary signals will direct one-lane traffic through the work zones and drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. Weather permitting, the road work should be finished by mid-March 2025. KDOT awarded B & B Bridge Co. of St. Paul the $480,116 construction contract. KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
