Parsons Civic Group Has Big Plans for New Christmas Lights

Downtown Parsons will be dressed for the holidays this year thanks to some new downtown Christmas lights.

The new lights come to the city courtesy of SEK Point of Pride. Rod Landrum spoke on behalf of the group at this week's city commission meeting. Landrum told commissioners that the group has plans to install new soft white LED Christmas lights on the front of the buildings downtown. The first phase of the plan will cost $49,000 and the group has already raised more than half of those funds. The light project will then be completed in the second phase for another $22,000. Landrum says the plan is to leave downtown Parsons looking good for the holidays.

Downtown businesses and others helped by donating to the project. The city commission also agreed to add $23,000 in city tourism funds for the lights as well.
