The City of Independence is set to honor veterans this Saturday at their 6th Annual Veterans Day of Honor.
The city has been preparing for the celebration by dressing up the downtown area. Chamber President Lisa Wilson says residents and visitors may have noticed the downtown displays.
Other activities on Saturday include the Veterans Memorial Tribute at Riverside Park at 10:30am, the Heroes and Hotrods Car Show at Auto Zone starting at noon, and a free community hot dog lunch starting at 11am at the VFW. The Veterans Day Parade will begin at 2pm downtown and the day will be capped off with Comedy Night with Copenhagen Bandit at the VFW at 8pm.
