It was a record setting Election Day in Wilson County, with citizens lining up at the polls to cast their votes.
The county shattered the record for highest voter turnout for an election, breaking the previous mark by more than 15%. County Clerk Kayla Busch says the numbers were through the roof in several categories.
People were lined up before 7 a.m. on Tuesday to participate in Election Day. Busch says she received some help from some area students.
Over 3,700 total ballots were cast, with more than 1,200 early voteers and 248 mail in ballots so far. The county commission will sort through the provisional ballots during next week's meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. in Room 101 of the County Courthouse.
