A traffic stop on Monday night in Dearing leads to a drug seizure and an arrest.

 

 Just before 9pm on Monday, Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 1991 Toyota pick up truck just north of Dearing. During the stop, a K-9 Officer conducted an open air sniff and indicated the presence of drugs.

 

Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered more than a pound of methamphetamine that was later found to be mixed with fentanyl. They also found syringes, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. Deputies arrested the driver, 69-year-old Donny Ray Sumner of Wayside.

 

Sumner was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and faces multiple charges including distribution of opiates.
