Area Republicans fared very well on the ballot in yesterday's election.

 

 In the race for Kansas Senate District 15, Virgil Peck defeated Jerry Reeves with 20,517 total votes to Reeves 7,749. state Representatives Ron Bryce and Doug Blex also won re-election as they were both unopposed in yesterday's race.

 

There was a very close race for Caney City Council Ward 3, with Elizabeth Burch edging out Debora Wood 86 to 78.

 

The Coffeyville Sales Tax Question also passed. The Yes votes totaled 1,509 votes while the No votes were 864.

 

In other area elections, Billy Tomasi defeated incumbent Danny Smith for Crawford County Sheriff, while Brian Henderson defeated Russ Harper for Sheriff of Cherokee County.
