A forensic audit will be performed on Caney Grocery. That was approved by the Caney City Council during last night's meeting.
A forensic audit is defined as an examination and evaluation of a business' financial records. The audit would be used to find evidence that could potentially be used in court, especially in a fraud or embezzlement case.
The council hired Jerry Mitchell CPA to perform the audit, at a cost between $3,000 and $4,500. The vote was unanimous in favor of the audit.
The CPA firm will be examining the store records from January 1st to September 30th of this year.
In other business, the council accepted the retirement of City Administrator Kelley Zellner, effective December 31st, and discussed the final bill for the Maple Avenue Water Line.
The Caney City Council meeting is available for viewing on the KGGF Facebook page.
