A history professor at Independence Community College is honored for his writing.

 Dr. Isaias McCaffery has been awarded the Edgar Langsdorf Award of Excellence by the Kansas State Historical Foundation. The honor was bestowed on McCaffery for his 2024 article published in Kansas History on the harassment faced by Kansas women in public spaces from the territorial era through the early twentieth century. The article was judged based on criteria such as construction, evidence of research, and its contribution to advancing historical knowledge.

The award was presented at the Kansas State Historical Foundation’s Annual Meeting on November 1st in Topeka.
