Parsons Teen Injured in Shooting

A 13-year-old Parsons boy is injured in a weekend shooting.

Parsons Police were called to the scene in the 2400 block of Morgan Avenue in Parsons on Friday night after reports indicated a juvenile male had been shot and needed medical attention. There they found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his neck. Officers provided first aid until emergency medical crews arrived to take the boy to a hospital. The boy was able to tell police that he had been walking down the street when a dark-colored car approached, then stopped nearby. He said he then felt a pain in his neck and ran to a friend's house for help.

Hospital employees gave the boy's clothing to officers who discovered ammunition in the pockets. Detectives searched the neighborhood where the boy was shot and found a backpack belonging to the juvenile victim. Inside the backpack, they found an iPad, an electronic cigarette used for ingesting marijuana, and a small handgun. The weapon is suspected to have been stolen from a Parsons resident on October 17th.

PPD is asking that anyone with video footage from the location on Friday night, to review it to see if it includes any information about the incident. Anyone with video of the shooting or any other information is asked to contact Parsons Police at 421-7060 or the tip line at 421-7057 or email tips@parsonspd.com
