KCC Warns of Electric Savings Scam

The Kansas Corporation Commission is warning consumers about a recently revealed scam.

The Commission has received reports that an individual claiming to work for the KCC has been calling utility customers and offering a 30% discount on electric bills. The caller then asks about Medicare or Medicaid eligibility before asking for a credit card number to the refund can be applied.

This person does not work for the KCC and the Commission urges customers to use caution if they receive a call. Most importantly, do not provide credit card information over the phone.

The Kansas Corporation Commission Utilities Division establishes and regulates rates for public utilities such as electricity, natural gas, liquid pipelines, and telecommunications.
