Area firefighters were busy with a large grass fire yesterday afternoon in Labette County.

Multiple Montgomery County units provided mutual aid for a fire near 3000 and Chase Road just south of 166. Units from Montgomery County Rural Fire District 1, Coffeyville Fire, Coffeyville Resources, Dearing, Liberty and South Coffeyville assisted the Edna Fire Department with a large grass fire threatening structures. Last night's rain and expected showers this weekend should put a stop to the daily grass fires in the area.
