Several departments respond to another grass fire over the weekend.

 

On Saturday, the Dearing Fire Department along with other units responded to a fire in a soybean field on County Road 3700 just north of 3900 that was threatening structures. The fire was kept away from nearby buildings thanks to efforts by the firefighters and local landowners.

 

The Dearing Fire Department is now responding to upwards of seven calls a day. The department is asking everyone to think twice before starting an open flame. A red flag warning is in effect today from noon until 8 p.m. for much of the listening area including Montgomery County.
