A red flag warning has been issued for much of southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma.
Ongoing dry conditions, warm temperatures and high winds today and tomorrow are prompting elevated grassland fire concerns. Montgomery, Wilson and Woodson Counties and areas west in addition to Osage, Washington, Nowata and Craig counties in Oklahoma are included in the red flag warning today from noon until 8 p.m. Winds out of the south at 20-30 mph are expected to gust 40-50 mph. Much of the area is also included in a wind advisory from noon to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow. Any fires that start could be very difficult to control.
