The 83rd Queen Neelah is crowned in Independence.
The coronation took place last night at Memorial Hall in Independence as IHS senior Addison Cope was crowned the winner. Also recognized were first runner-up Alexis Brown and second runner-up D'Asia Jones. Awards were also given for nine other contestant categories including Miss Beauty Annie Renfro, Miss Talent Reece Eytcheson, and Miss Congeniality Aly Murphy. Other winners include:

Neewollah festivities continue today as the food trucks and carnival midway open in downtown Independence. The Doodah Parade is tomorrow night at 6pm, The Kiddie Parade is Friday at 4, and the Grand Parade is Saturday morning at 11. The marching band competition happens at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at Riverside Park. The carnival and live music on the bandstand happen each night with the Tyler Farr concert on Saturday night.
