Recent dry weather conditions in the area have increased the risk of fires. K-State Meteorologist
Chip Redmond says there are tools farmers should have on hand when operating machinery and precautions to take. Redmond says for precautions around the house avoid anything that would cause a spark.
For the counties where a burn ban is not in place, Redmond says to make sure any brush burns or recreational fires get fully extinguished. He says to run water through the ash completely soaking it and stirring while continuing to add water to cool the ash down.
