Officials in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, have extended the burn ban in effect for that county.
Due to extremely dry conditions and the increases risk of fire, the Ottawa County commission has extended the burn ban originally put in place on October 9. The original ban was set to expire Wednesday, but the new extension will leave the ban in place through November 6.
According to the ban, outdoor fires of any forest, grass, range crop, campfire, bonfire, trash fire, or any other fire that could cause a fire of outdoor wild lands is prohibited.
Outdoor cooking using natural gas or charcoal may be allowed under certain circumstances. There are also exceptions for welding under certain conditions.
