A 25-year-old man is in the hospital after a weekend stabbing in southwest Missouri.

 Police in Duenweg were called to the scene just east of Joplin on Saturday afternoon where they found the victim suffering from stab wounds to the leg and abdomen. He was taken to a Joplin hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Police located a suspect at a nearby residence and took that person into custody without incident. The suspect was taken to the Jasper County Jail and faces assault charges in the incident.
