Officials in Crawford County say ballots are secure after a car crashes into the ballot drop box.
The accident occurred around 6pm on Friday evening when a vehicle jumped the curb and struck the drop box located in the parking lot of the Pittsburg Judicial Center. The driver of the car was uninjured and stated that the glare of the sun caused the accident. Crawford County Clerk Lisa Lusker arrived at the accident site soon after the crash and took possession of the sealed ballots. The ballots were then taken to the Crawford County Courthouse.
Until the drop box can be replaced Crawford County voters are asked to drop their ballots at the Girard courthouse or drop them off in-person at the County Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday between 8 and 4. Ballots can also be returned by mail or taken to any early polling site in Crawford County.
