The topic of solar energy continues to be polarizing in Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma.

 Almost 100 residents of Cherokee County met last night in Columbus to discuss the possibility of a solar energy farm in the county.

 According to Cherokee County Commissioner Lorie Johnson, the 3,000 acres would begin around southeast 10th and Clem Road and move toward the Oklahoma state line.

 Residents are encouraged to contact their commissioner with questions and concerns.
