A Washington County man was arraigned Tuesday on two felony cases.
35-year-old Shawn Stierwalt is being charged in two separate cases with 1st degree rape and domestic abuse after a felony conviction.
According to the affidavit, an argument Saturday between the victim and Stierwalt led to him holding the victim down on the bed with his knees on her arms while slapping and strangling her. He allegedly threatened to kill her during the assault.
The victim also stated Stierwalt hit her in the face multiple times and placed his hands around her neck.
Officers found three knives next to Stierwalt's bed. Officers also observed fresh cuts on the victim's face and arm bruises.
Examination of the victim showed signs of sexual assault and strangulation.
Stierwalt's bond was set at $100,000 in both cases; he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
