A southwest Missouri woman is sentenced in federal court for her role in the kidnapping and murder of a pregnant Arkansas woman and her unborn child.
Amber Waterman of Pineville, MO, was sentenced this week to life in prison without parole in federal court. Waterman entered a guilty plea in July to kidnapping Ashley Bush in October 2022 in order to claim her unborn child. According to court documents, Waterman made contact with Bush using a false Facebook account, then lured her to a convenience store in Maysville, Arkansas, under the pretext of discussing an employment opportunity. The kidnapping eventually resulted in Bush's death as well as the death of her unborn child. Waterman and her husband Jamie then allegedly attempted to dispose of the bodies by burning them.
Jamie Waterman's case is still ongoing. His trial is scheduled to begin October 21 in Springfield.
