A man charged in the 2023 shooting death of 23-year-old Dakota Patton changes his plea to guilty.
34-year-old Clint Nibarger of Parsons appeared in a Neosho County courtroom yesterday to accept a plea deal in Patton's murder. As a part of the deal, Nibarger entered a guilty plea to the amended charges of intentional second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Both Nibarger's attorneys and the prosecution have recommended a sentence of 176 months for the first count and 117 months for the second count. The sentences would be served consecutively for a total sentence of 24 years in prison.
The charges are the result of the shooting death in April 2023 of 23-year-old Dakota Patton, whose remains were discovered in a field in rural Neosho County on May 8, 2023. Nibarger was reportedly the last person to see Patton alive after the two were seen at a gas station, arguing over a woman. Clint Nibarger and his wife Kimberly were arrested in Taney County, Missouri, shortly after.
Kimberly Nibarger is scheduled for a status hearing today.
Clint Nibarger will be formally sentenced in December.
