A man is dead after a morning excavator accident in Cherokee County.
Around 11am yesterday an excavator was unloading material off of a semi truck near the intersection of Southeast 90th Road and Southeast Wyandotte Road or about 10 miles east of Columbus. A piece of metal slipped from the excavator and fell from the opposite side of the trailer. The piece of metal struck the driver of the semi.
The victim in the incident is described as a 50-year-old male.
