Big Boy No. 4014 arrived to a big crowd yesterday afternoon at the Union Pacific Rail Yard.

 The steam locomotive is currently on its “Heartland of America Tour”, an almost two month tour encompassing a total of nine different states.

 After Big Boy 4014 was retired from service in 1961, restoration began on the engine in 2013 and it returned to service in May 2019 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad.

 Today's route will see Big Boy 4014 departing Coffeyville at 9:00 a.m., headed for Kansas City. Stops include Osawatomie, arriving at 2:15 pm. at the West Pacific Avenue Crossing, then departing at 2:45. It will stop for the night at Kansas City's Union Station, 30 West Pershing Road, arriving at 6:45 pm.
