Two Columbus Residents Injured in Weekend Crash

Two Columbus residents are seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Cherokee County.

The accident occurred around 4:30 Friday afternoon near the intersection of US-69 and Northeast 20th Street or about 2 miles east of Columbus. A 2010 Ford pickup driven by 45-year-old Vivian Hubbard of Columbus was traveling southbound on Northeast 20th toward US-69. Hubbard failed to yield at a stop sign as she crossed the highway and was struck by a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 44-year-old Joseph Huddleston of Galena. The impact caused Huddleston’s vehicle to overturn in a ditch while Hubbard’s truck came to rest in the roadway.

Both Hubbard and a passenger in her vehicle 47-year-old Joshua Doherty also of Columbus, sustained serious injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.

Huddleston was uninjured in the accident.
