Authorities in Pittsburg are investigating an apparent attack with a hatchet that occurred Wednesday in a city park.
Pittsburg Police and Crawford County EMS were called to the scene at the 23rd Street Bike Park around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon after reports of a woman being struck with a hatchet. The female victim was located in a wooded area of the park with a wound to her neck. She was taken to Mercy Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say the attack occurred following an argument between the victim and another woman.
A 32-year-old Pittsburg woman was taken into custody by police. She is currently being held without bond and faces charges of felony aggravated battery.
