A Salina middle school teacher will not face charges in an incident that injured a 13-year-old student.
The incident in question occurred on September 6th in the weight room at Salina South Middle. A male student was using the bench press and when the boy finished his exercises the 39-year-old male teacher sat on him.
Witnesses say the student then passed out briefly and rolled off of the weight bench. The fall caused the boy to strike his head, which caused a cut. The teacher was placed on administrative leave following the incident.
The Saline County Attorney's Office stated yesterday that no charges would be filed because investigators were unable to establish criminal intent. Most witnesses reported that the action seemed playful in nature.
