The Coffeyville Fire Department once again earns a high rating for protecting the public.
Coffeyville Fire has maintained its Class 3 rating from the Insurance Services Office. The I-S-O rating is a Public Protection Classification number that ranges from 1 to 10 with 1 being the highest. Each year, over 40,000 communities are rated and only 15% of those reach a Class 3 or higher rating. In order to determine the rating, communities are examined for their emergency communications, fire department staffing and training, reliable water supply, and community efforts such as fire prevention codes, public education and safety codes.
Insurance companies use I-S-O ratings to determine premium rates for homes and business so a high rating can lead to savings for residents.
Coffeyville Fire Chief Mike O' Connor thanked Coffeyville residents for their commitment to making the city a safe place to live.
