Governor Kelly Announces Funding for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Additional electric vehicle fast-charging stations are coming to area cities thanks to funding from the federal government.

Governor Laura Kelly announced today that nearly $7 million in federal funding will go to nine locations throughout the state as a part of the Kansas National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula program.

Locations in southeast Kansas where the new charging stations will be located include Casey's locations on US-400 in Baxter Springs and Parsons and the Pete's location in Severy. Funding for the stations must be matched with 20% coming from private or local funds. These three cities join other locations in Fredonia and Cherokee that were announced in January.

Governor Kelly called the project an investment to enhance Kansas infrastructure to help meet the needs of all who travel through the state.
