Wilson County Receives More Info on Potential Solar Facility

More information was presented to the Wilson County Commission, regarding a potential solar energy facility being built and operated in the county.

The Sunflower Sky solar project was initally discussed earlier this year, but the first application was rejected by the County Zoning Board.

Savion Director of Development Brianna Baca says the group has made adjustments to the original location.

The facility footprint would span 490 acres, with a power capacity up to 65 megawats. Baca says these immediate metrics also have the potential to expand with more time and resources.

No action was taken, as the Zoning Board wasn't present at the meeting. The commissioners will meet next on October 9th at 9 a.m. in Room 101 of the courthouse.
