More numbers are in from this year's winter wheat crop in Kansas.
According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, production is estimated at 307 million bushels, which is up 53% from last year. The area harvested for grain totaled 7.15 million acres, up 24% from 2023. Planted acreage totaled 7.60 million acres, down 6% from a year earlier. The yield is 43.0 bushels per acre, up 8.0 bushels from 2023.
