An Independence teen is dead following an accident involving a car and an electric scooter in Independence.

 18-year-old Noah Corish was riding an electric scooter on Chestnut Street around 7:30 yesterday morning when a Chevy Silverado driven by 39-year-old Brent Heuer of Elk City attempted to turn onto Penn Avenue from Chestnut. Corish failed to yield and was struck in the intersection by the pick up. Corish was taken to Labette Health, but did not survive. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
