CES has been given the all-clear from the Coffeyville Police Department.  School dismissal will continue as normal.  A portion of 4th Street remains closed due to the active investigation.  New reports indicate the incident stemmed from a traffic stop.

First responders are on the scene of an active investigation in Coffeyville.

 

Today Just before 3 p.m., law enforcement responded to the 1700 block of West 4th Street in Coffeyville near Jigg's Smoke Shop.  Those nearby report hearing multiple gunshots.  Dr. Craig Correll confirms that Community Elementary School was locked down as of just after 3 p.m.  Nearby businesses also locked down.  The City of Coffeyville is asking all to avoid the area as the investigation takes place.  There's no official word on injuries at this time.  This is a breaking news story, we'll have more as it develops.
