Oklahoma Grocery Tax Reduction Goes Into Effect Today

Grocery shoppers across the state of Oklahoma can breathe a sigh of relief today as the state's grocery tax reduction goes into effect.

Starting today, the 4.5% Oklahoma state sales tax on groceries will be eliminated. Public Information and Press Liaison with the Oklahoma Tax Commission Emily Haxton says not all products shoppers will see in the grocery store will be affected by the change.

Local taxes will still apply. The tax cut was approved during this year's legislative session and represents the largest tax cut in state history. The reduction is expected to save Oklahoma families hundreds of dollars yearly.
