The Southwest Power Pool issues an Energy Emergency Alert Level 1.
This alert is for the entire SPP Balancing Authority and is effective until further notice. The declaration of an EEA1 does not require the public to conserve energy and does not indicate that SPP will be directing controlled service outages. An EEA1 indicates that while SPP has enough generation available to meet demand and fulfill its reserve obligations, conditions exist that could put reserves at risk if they worsen. Individuals should contact their local utility for details specific to their area.
Coffeyville Municipal Light and Power will continue to coordinate with GRDA and SPP to monitor the situation, prepare for any current status changes, and communicate these changes to customers as they become available. The EEA1 is being declared based on forecasts of high peak loads due to widespread high temperatures, an increase in resource outages and low output from wind and other variable energy resources leading into peak hours.
