Authorities in Wichita are investigating the discovery of a body found in the trunk of a car.

 Police responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 7am yesterday about an abandoned car in a field near West Kellogg. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a man in the trunk of a white Mercedes. The body was wrapped in bloody sheets and had been shot multiple times. Police believe the original crime occurred in the parking lot of a nearby hotel.

Authorities say they know the identity of the 39-year-old victim but are not yet releasing his name pending notification of next of kin. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Wichita Police Department.
