The Nowata County Commissioners formally approved a wage increase for the Nowata County Sheriff.

 Nowata County Clerk Kay Spurgeon says the increase will go into effect soon.

Due to the move, Nowata County Sheriff Jason McClain will have his salary increase from $32,000 to $44,000 a year. The motion passed unanimously in a vote on Monday.
