Montgomery County Canvass of August 6 Primary

Montgomery County tallies the official vote count for the August 6 primary election.

The canvass won't officially be complete until several provisional ballots are reconciled, but, once that happens, the totals will be sent to the state for certification. County Clerk Charlotte Scott-Schmidt says a lot of effort goes into making sure elections in Montgomery county are done in a free and fair manner.

Schmidt says this election was the second one of the year to be audited by the state audit board. Members are selected by the Democratic and Republican county chairs and the races audited are selected by the Kansas Secretary of State. Schmidt says the audit for the primary has come back clean.

The general election in November will also be audited by the state.
