A Saturday afternoon car accident in Neosho County leaves two people injured.
The accident occurred at the four-way stop intersection of US-169 and K-47 just north of Thayer. A 2019 Ford Explorer driven by 47-year-old Kelly Rhoades of Topeka was stopped at the intersection. As her vehicle proceeded through the four-way stop a 2009 Lexus driven by 62-year-old Deneise Claxton of Mustang, OK, failed to stop and struck Rhoades' SUV in the passenger side doors. Rhoades along with a passenger in her vehicle, 69-year-old Ruth Henderson of Palmer, Kansas, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute for treatment. Claxton and a second passenger in the SUV were uninjured.
