The USD 436 school district began their year last week on a down note, with the self harm passing of one of their students.
Superintendent Blake Vargas says it's important for all students to know that they are not alone.
Vargas says organizations are available for students, and it's important for them to know that they can talk, either with someone they know or a licensed professional they don't know.
Extra counselors were on hand for students and faculty. Vargas says counselors are ready to assist in any way they can as the school year begins.
