Missouri Sets Execution Date for Convicted Child Killer

The State of Missouri has set a date for the execution of convicted child killer Christopher Collings.

The Supreme Court of Missouri has set the date of December 3, 2024, at 6pm as the date and time the death sentenced imposed on Collings for the 2007 rape and murder of 9-year-old Rowan Ford. Collings has been on Missouri's death row since 2012 for the crime that occurred in Newton County. His case has been reviewed by the Missouri Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth District, and the U.S. Supreme Court. No court has found any legal errors in the case.

Ford's stepfather David Spears was also charged in the case, but pleaded guilty to lesser charges after prosecutors said the physical evidence against him did not support the stronger charges. Spears was sentenced to 11 years in prison for his part in the crime.
