Cherryvale Schools Prepare for Budget Work

The USD 447 prepares for budget work.

At this month's Cherryvale-Thayer School Board Meeting, board members began the process of talking through budget details for the upcoming year. Though the actual budget hearing won't happen until September, there is the possibility that the board may have to exceed the revenue neutral rate. Superintendent Travis Githins says a big part of this is the way the state structures aid for small districts.

Githins says the increase will increase the matching amount paid by the state.

The state match for the Local Option Budget or L-O-B would be 73 cents for every dollar provided by the district. The budget hearing will happen at the September 9th school board meeting.
